Chicago Congestion

Unfortunately, there are major service delays in the transportation industry in the city of Chicago, IL. These delays are running up to five days in some cases, and are being experienced across all major railroads on both inbound and outbound schedules.

BNSF Update:

All major ramps in Chicago are congested and recovery efforts are in place.

Requesting pick up of all available loads as soon as possible.

Union Pacific Update:

Global 2 is experiencing major constraints and congestion.

Additional facilities have been opened to relieve some of the current pressure.

Additional new facilities have also been opened to receive all notified containers from Global 2.

Union Pacific Canal Street has been reopened to load trains destined to Lathrop, CA, again relieving pressure from the Global 2 facility.

CSX Update:

Major congestion at Chicago 59th street is at a critical stage.

Additional facilities have been opened to help work off loaded inbound trains currently sitting at Chicago 59th.

Delays of 3-4 days are being experienced.

Norfolk Southern Update:

The flow of trains through and into Chicago are also affected within the Norfolk Southern system.

NS has delays and congestion in CGO, ATL, HAR, and the Northeast.

Extended grounding and transit times are being experienced throughout the NS system.

NS is experiencing an additional 3-4 days at their facilities especially Chicago, IL.

Drayage Capacity Update:

Drayage Capacity is extremely constrained.

Delays are expected as long as 2 days on all long-haul dray moves originating in Chicago, IL.

Local drays require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to timely accomplish the work.

We appreciate your patience and regret any inconvenience this is causing. Each railroad and drayage operation has multi-faceted recovery plans in place, and they are expected to see significant improvements by next week.
