IPI Service Alert Update

Due to Winter Storms over the weekend we are seeing some delays. Please see the updates from Rail Carriers

Update from Union Pacific Railroad:

•     "A major winter storm with record snowfall is impacting rail operations on our network. As a result, customers with rail shipments moving through Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois can expect delays between 24-48 hours.”
•     "Road conditions are poor and crews are experiencing challenges getting to work locations. As road conditions improve, crews will be able to safely return to work.”

Update from BNSF Railroad:

•     Harsh operating conditions between western Montana and the Twin Cities this week, and for much of this month, have created significant challenges to velocity and fluidity through the region. Extreme cold, with temperatures dropping to nearly 30 below zero in some locations, impacts the ability to generate proper air flow for our trains’ braking systems. In this environment, some traffic on our Northern Transcon has experienced significant delays.”
•     "The latest winter storm is currently moving through the Desert Southwest and bringing record snowfall to northern Arizona and New Mexico. Flagstaff, Arizona received more than three feet of snow yesterday (2-21-19), an all-time daily record. While several more inches are expected today (2-22-19), trains are moving through the area. We are utilizing special "snow coach” trains as necessary to reposition crews, and we established a round-the-clock command center to manage the deployment of additional personnel and resources, including snow removal equipment, in response to any service issues.”
•     "As this storm moves through the central Plains and into the upper Midwest this weekend, high winds and heavy snowfall are expected in many locations, including along the busy Chicago-Twin Cities corridor. BNSF operating teams are monitoring this system and taking the necessary actions to mitigate any service disruptions.”
• "Additional surges of Arctic cold are likely across the Northern Corridor next week. Customers should expect ongoing service challenges for shipments destined to move through the region.”
